In the NASMED Clinic we perform fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the following organs:
– thyroid
– lymph nodes
– salivary glands
– breasts
– soft tissues
The biopsy procedure is performed by an experienced pathologists, under full monitoring with the USG head. It consists in collecting cytological material (a group of cells) from a site characteristic for diagnosis, which is performed with a needle of 0.4-0.5 mm diameter. The procedure is absolutely safe and does not require anasthesia.
The diagnostitian exposes an abnormal change in the USG test and indicates the most convenient way of accessing it, avoiding the largests blood vessels. During the biopsy the progress is permanently monitored with the USG imaging. The cooperating pathologist collects the cytological material from the indicated change and assesses it in the laboratory. The results are available after 7 days.
