Proctology is a field of medicine dealing with disorders of the final part of the gastrointestinal tract, i.e. rectum, anal canal and its final opening – anus. In its wider scope – also known as colonorectal sugery – it aditionally comprises the large intestine.
The most common diseases treated by a proctologist are:
– diseases of the anus (e.g. anal abscess, anal fissure)
– diseases of the anal canal (e.g. hemorrhoids)
– diseases of the rectum (e.g. polips, tumors, inflammations)
Our outpatient unit NASMED offers you prophylaxis, diagostics and treatment of diseases affecting the final part of the gastrointestinal tract. Ultrasound examinations: USG per rectum, anoscopy, rectoscopy as well as endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract with the use of Evis Extera II machine allow for full diagnostics of the proctological problems.
Whenever necessary, colonoscopies are performed with tissue sampling (in case of small lesions the procedure is called polypectomy), which enables us to discover colon cancer in early stages of development.
On every-day basis there are patients visiting a proctologist complaining of symptoms typical for hemorrhoids (hemorrhoidal nodules). It affects mainly patients with chronic constipation, staying in the sitting position for many hours, and especially women after multiple childbirths.
In the outpatient unit NASMED we offer you a wide range of diagnostic examinations and the newest methods of treatment – also in reference to such troublesome proctological diseases like hemorrhoids.
In treating hemorrhoids we use many instrumental methods: Barron method (rubber band ligation), photocoagulation, electrocoagulation and Hemoron, as well as the newest minimally invasive methods of surgical treatment like:
– laser hemoroidoplasty (LHP) with the use of the most innovative laser system of Biolitec and
– ligation of hemorrhoidal arteries with the use of USG-Doppler (minimally invasive DGHAL technique), with additional anorectoplasty performed by RAR method
