Correction of wrinkles using BOTOX

The effect of administering Botox is inhibiting the neuromuscular plate, and in consequence the disappearance of mimic wrinkles on the face and temporary relaxation of excessively working facial muscles.

In aesthetic medicine Botox is administered in small doses to give the safe local effect. The procedure is performed at young people (from approx. 30 years of age) with an excessive facial expression. The preparation is administered in certain parts of the face with a thin needle. These areas can be previously desensitised with a cream containing the anaesthetic agent, although this is usually not necessary. After the treatment, the face may become a little red, which usually disappears after about 20 minutes.  The effect of the treatment is visible on the next day, and it increases gradually for up to two weeks. The durability of Botox is estimated at about 6 months. The administered Botox preparation not only inhibits muscle contractions, but also teaches our face not to express excessively.

In aesthetic medicine Botox is also used to treat excessive sweating of hands, underarms and feet.

By using Botox, we can get rid mostly of wrinkles from:

– between the eyebrows, the so-called lion wrinkles
– transverse wrinkles on the forehead
– around the eyes, so-called crow’s feet
– other areas, including: lower eyelid, around the mouth, on the chin and neck; often in combination with monotherapy as mesobotox

In elderly patients with the fixed wrinkles, sometimes one must combine it additionally with filler preparations based on stabilised hyaluronic acid.
